Our Prelude to Spring Concert opens with Jacques Offenbach’s high-spirited Overture to “Orpheus in the Underworld\,” a witty and satirical romp featuring the now infamous “Can-Can.” \nFollowing this\, the Colorado Symphony’s Assistant Principal Bass Nicholas Recuber steps into the spotlight for the WORLD-PREMIERE performance of William Hill’s captivating Fantasy for Double Bass\, Electric Bass and Orchestra\, a rare and stunning showcase for an underutilized instrument for solo roles. \nThe evening concludes with Antonín Dvořák’s powerful and turbulent Symphony No. 7\, a work of profound struggle and defiant heroism that culminates in a glorious\, life-affirming finale.
