SUMMARY:2025-2026 Masterworks Concert Series Fall Concert - Evergreen
DESCRIPTION:2025-2026 Season Masterworks Concert Series\nFall Concert\nEvergreen Performance\nJoin us for a program of thought-provoking music that spans the human experience from heartfelt introspection to unbridled joy. The concert begins with the achingly beautiful Adagietto from Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5\, a lyrical and intimate movement that is often considered a wordless love letter. \nNext\, longtime ECO pianist Peggy Lyon returns to perform J.S. Bach’s Keyboard Concerto No. 3\, BWV 1054 in D Major. Modeled after the famous E-Major Violin Concerto BWV 1042 but transposed to D Major to reach the highest key on the harpsichords of the day\, Bach’s third keyboard concerto uses da capo ABA form in the first movement – a rare occurrence in Bach’s oeuvre. \nThe program concludes with Johannes Brahms’ magnificent Symphony No. 2\, a work of rich orchestration that moves from pastoral serenity to a triumphant and exhilarating finale. \nPROGRAM:\nGUSTAV MAHLER\nSymphony No. 5 in C-Sharp Minor \nIV – Adagietto \nJOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH\nKeyboard Concerto No. 3 in D Major\, BWV 1054 \nI – Allegro \nII – Adagio \nIII – Allegro \nPeggy Lyon – Piano \nJOHANNES BRAHMS\nSymphony No. 2 in D Major\, Op. 73 \nI – Allegro non troppo \nII – Adagio non troppo \nIII – Allegretto grazioso (quasi andantino) \nIV – Allegro con spirito \n  \nAll tickets to ECO Concerts and Events now include links to access the live-stream and video-on-demand replay of the concert! \nCan’t watch the concert at the time of the performance? You can watch the stream anytime that is convenient for you – forever. \nLooking for Live-Stream Only tickets to this event? Click here!

SUMMARY:Virtual Ticket - 2024-2025 Masterworks Concert Series Season Finale - Denver
DESCRIPTION:2024-2025 Season Masterworks Concert Series\nSeason Finale\nDenver Performance\nLIVE-STREAM ONLY\nECO’s 2024-2025 Masterworks Concert Series will come to a close with our Season Finale Concert\, featuring a unique duo of works for orchestra and chorus. We are delighted to continue our collaborative friendship with the Evergreen Chorale as we perform one of the greatest masterpieces of the past alongside a new and innovative work. \nWe invite you to experience the world premiere of a new composition for chorus and chamber orchestra by William Hill\, ECO’s Music Director and Colorado Symphony’s Principal Timpanist. ECO is proud to continue our longstanding tradition of premiering new works by talented contemporary composers. Performing under the baton of the composer is a rewarding and fulfilling experience! \nThis groundbreaking work promises to expand the boundaries of choral music. By merging the intimacy of chamber ensemble with the power of the human voice\, Hill creates a unique and immersive sonic experience. \nOur season will close with the culmination of the Beethoven Symphonic Cycle that William Hill and the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra embarked upon almost a decade ago. \nLudwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor\, Op. 125 is one of the absolute greatest masterworks of classical music. It is Beethoven’s final complete symphony\, and the first example of a major composer scoring vocal parts in a symphony. \nThis epic work\, often hailed as the greatest orchestral composition ever written\, is a testament to the human spirit. It is truly remarkable and almost impossible to imagine that this work was composed at a time when Beethoven was nearly completely deaf – the music is an incarnation of Beethoven’s will to create. \nFrom its dramatic opening to the triumphant choral finale\, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is truly a magnificent journey that must be experienced. We invite you to join us on this journey at our Season Finale Concerts! \nECO’s Virtual Tickets are offered as “pay what you like”. \nThere is no difference between the price levels – please choose whatever price you feel is appropriate! \nPROGRAM:\nWilliam Hill\nNew Composition for Chorus and Orchestra \nWORLD PREMIERE \nLudwig van Beethoven\nSymphony No. 9 in D Minor\, Op. 125 \nI – Allegro ma non troppo\, un poco maestoso \nII – Molto vivace \nIII – Adagio molto e cantabile \nIV – Finale \nSoloists to be announced soon! \n— \nAll tickets to ECO Concerts and Events now include links to access the live-stream and video-on-demand replay of the concert! \nCan’t watch the concert at the time of the performance? ECO will present an all-Mozart program that celebrates the composer’s unparalleled genius for our Spring Concert. \nExperience the fun\, light-hearted spirit of Mozart with the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro. A whirlwind of melodic invention and rhythmic vitality\, this overture sets the stage for one of opera’s most beloved comedies. \nThen comes the luminous magic of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major\, K. 467 – a masterpiece of lyrical elegance and technical brilliance. We are thrilled to welcome back Steinway Artist Stephanie Shih-yu Cheng as soloist for this delightful work. \nMozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21\, K. 467 in C Major was composed in 1785\, just weeks after completing his dramatic Concerto No. 20 in D Minor\, K. 466. 466. The tonal contrast between these two works is astounding\, revealing the great emotional range contained in Mozart’s oeuvre. \nPrepare to be astonished by the sheer scale and ingenuity of Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 in C major\, the “Jupiter Symphony.” ECO is performing the great final symphonies of each of the classical masters for our 2024-2025 Season\, and Mozart certainly does not disappoint! \nA monumental achievement\, this symphony showcases the composer at the peak of his powers\, despite dealing with illness and a decline in income and support from patrons. From the dramatic opening to the celestial finale\, Symphony No. 41 is a testament to Mozart’s boundless creativity and orchestral mastery. \nECO’s Virtual Tickets are offered as “pay what you like”. \nThere is no difference between the price levels – please choose whatever price you feel is appropriate! \nPROGRAM:\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart\nOverture from The Marriage of Figaro\, K. 492 \nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart\nPiano Concerto No. 21 in C Major\, K. 467 \nI – Allegro maestoso \nII – Andante \nIII – Allegro vivace assai \nStephanie Shih-yu Cheng – Piano \nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart\nSymphony No. 41 in C Major\, K. 551 \n“Jupiter Symphony” \nI – Allegro vivace \nII – Andante cantabile \nIII – Menuetto: Allegretto \nIV – Molto allegro \n— \nAll tickets to ECO Concerts and Events now include links to access the live-stream and video-on-demand replay of the concert! \nCan’t watch the concert at the time of the performance? Ravel originally wrote Ma mère l’Oye as a piano duet for the Godebski children\, Mimi and Jean\, ages 6 and 7\, to whom he dedicated the work.
