DESCRIPTION:An Evergreen Holiday Tradition!\nECO’s Colorado Mountain Holiday Concert returns for the 2022-2023 Season\, and for this season we will feature a very special guest artist! \nIn addition to the traditional holiday-themed programming\, we will host the winner of our 2022-2023 Young Artists Solo Competition in a performance of their chosen piece. \nThis year’s Colorado Mountain Holiday Concert features JS Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3\, Paul Campbell’s arrangement of the Christmas Carol Fantasy\, Tracy Rush’s arrangement of The Friendly Beasts\, and selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. \nIn addition\, the concert will include many of the traditional favorites ECO has performed in the past\, like Jingle Bells and Silent Night. \nECO is also proud to announce the continuation of our holiday partnership with the Evergreen Chorale! The program begins with one of ECO Music Director William Hill’s newest compositions – his Symphony No. 4. Bill’s Fourth Symphony is composed in the “classical” style featuring four movements. \nThe second half of the program consists of a classical masterpiece – Franz Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 101 in D Major\, H. 1/101 – known by its colloquial name “The Clock” for the ticking rhythm throughout the second movement. This work is part of a group of the twelve London Symphonies that Haydn composed during his two visits to London. The 101st Symphony was composed during his second visit\, between 1793 – 1794\, and this group contains some of his most well-known works. \n\nPROGRAM\nWilliam Hill\nSymphony No. 4 – “Classical”\nI – Andante; Allegro vivo \nII – Adagio \nIII – Allegro \nIV: Vivace \nFranz Joseph Haydn\nSymphony No. 101 in D Major\, H. 1/101 – “The Clock”\nI – Adagio \nII – Andante \nIII – Menuetto; Allegretto \nIV: Finale: Vivace
