ECO Musical Moments

No. 6 - 4/24/2020

Welcome to the sixth edition of ECO’s Musical Moments series! Today, our video is exclusively focused on the cello. This video first features ECO board member Liam Abramson (who is also an accomplished cellist) in an interview by his young daughter, Lior. Lior asks Liam a number of great questions about the cello – for example… why is the cello so named? How many strings does the cello have? You’ll love this interview!

The second half of the video features ECO cellists Shirley and Mike Marecak performing the Sonata for Two Cellos by Jean-Baptiste Barrière. Shirley and Mike are mainstays at ECO’s Chamber Recital Series, and they are excited to perform for you today.

We hope you enjoy this ECO Musical Moment! If you’d like to support ECO during this difficult time, please take a moment to read below…

ECO has recently launched our “Stronger Together” fundraising campaign. We were forced to cancel the remainder of our 2019 – 2020 Season performances due to COVID-19, and the loss of our ticket revenue has had a significant impact on our financials.

Our “Stronger Together” campaign allows each of us to set up our own individual fundraising pages in support of the overall campaign. Our overall goal is to raise $20,000 by June 30th, and we’ve already raised $7,500 in just two weeks!

We ask that if you’ve ever enjoyed an ECO concert, event, or video, please consider joining us in the “Stronger Together” campaign and create your own fundraising page for ECO. It’s very simple to get set up, and you can easily invite your friends to donate (or create their own fundraising page!). If each of us raise a little bit, it will add up very quickly – and we’ll be well on our way to reaching and attaining our $20,000 goal.
