ECO’s 2024-2025 Masterworks Concert Series will come to a close with our Season Finale Concert, featuring a unique duo of works for orchestra and chorus. We are delighted to continue our collaborative friendship with the Evergreen Chorale as we perform one of the greatest masterpieces of the past alongside a new and innovative work.
We invite you to experience the world premiere of a new composition for chorus and chamber orchestra by William Hill, ECO’s Music Director and Colorado Symphony’s Principal Timpanist. ECO is proud to continue our longstanding tradition of premiering new works by talented contemporary composers. Performing under the baton of the composer is a rewarding and fulfilling experience!
This groundbreaking work promises to expand the boundaries of choral music. By merging the intimacy of chamber ensemble with the power of the human voice, Hill creates a unique and immersive sonic experience.
Our season will close with the culmination of the Beethoven Symphonic Cycle that William Hill and the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra embarked upon almost a decade ago.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125 is one of the absolute greatest masterworks of classical music. It is Beethoven’s final complete symphony, and the first example of a major composer scoring vocal parts in a symphony.
This epic work, often hailed as the greatest orchestral composition ever written, is a testament to the human spirit. It is truly remarkable and almost impossible to imagine that this work was composed at a time when Beethoven was nearly completely deaf – the music is an incarnation of Beethoven’s will to create.
From its dramatic opening to the triumphant choral finale, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is truly a magnificent journey that must be experienced. We invite you to join us on this journey at our Season Finale Concerts!
