ECO's RETURN TO LIVE PERFORMANCES!
We open the season with a performance of a new composition by our own Music Director, William “Bill” Hill. Entitled From Silence and Isolation for Orchestra, Soprano, and Tenor, this profound work explores the emotional impact of the isolation COVID forced upon us all, as well as the catharsis of emerging from this ordeal. Here’s what Bill has to say about this work:
“This piece is a commentary on what we’ve all been through in the last year and a half, particularly how the musical arts were silenced, and everyone has been isolated. It describes the sense of loss and isolation, the social unrest, and questions of inequality and violence in our society. The final two sections are all about reconciliation, with a peaceful uplifting theme that uses every chromatic note of the scale. The word chromatic is derived from Ancient Greek language and means “using all the colors”. I use all the colors in this piece as a metaphor for my hopes that all people will join together as we lift each other out of this difficult time and move forward in peace and mutual respect.”
Next, we are thrilled to announce that Yumi Hwang-Williams, the concertmaster of the Colorado Symphony, will be joining us to perform Joseph Bologne’s Violin Concerto, Op. 3, No. 1. Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, was a colonel on the side of the Republic during the French Revolution, a champion fencer, a violin virtuoso, and is now considered one of the first known classical composers of African ancestry. A highly prolific composer and conductor, his Violin Concerto, Op. 3, No. 1 is one of his most popular works..
Our Season Opener closes with a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, Op. 36 in D Major. One of the final works of Beethoven’s so-called “Early Period”, Beethoven’s second Symphony was composed between 1801 and 1802 as he was experiencing worsening deafness – and beginning to realize it may be permanent and incurable. The work was premiered in Vienna on April 5th, 1803, alongside his Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 37, and his oratorio “Christus am Ölberge”, Op. 85.

A note about COVID-19 and Venue Capacity at ECO's Live Performances
Evergreen Chamber Orchestra is committed to preserving the health and safety of our musicians, staff, and you – our audience. After evaluating our options and considering guidelines published by federal and state health authorities, we have decided to implement several policies and procedures to make sure our concerts are as safe as they possibly can be. Please take a moment to read our COVID-19 Policies for Live Events prior to purchasing a ticket.
One such policy is to limit capacity at our events to allow for sufficient physical distancing and refreshed airflow throughout the venue. While we believe this is the appropriate course of action in order to host a safer event, doing so limits our potential revenue.
Even with all of the policies we’ve implemented, we understand that not everyone may be ready to come back to the concert hall. For the first time ever, ECO is proud to offer Live-Stream tickets! Now, you’ll be able to enjoy any 2021-2022 Evergreen Chamber Orchestra event from the comfort of your own home, on your TV or on your computer. Please click here to see the live-stream ticket for this event.
As an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, ticket revenue is one of our primary sources of income. We’ve always endeavored to keep ticket prices as low as possible in order to make our concerts affordable for everyone, and we will not be increasing ticket prices this year.
Our actual cost to produce this event is around $50 per ticket.
All we ask is that if you are able to donate a bit in addition to the regular ticket price, please consider doing so. Even just a few dollars really does make a difference!
