ECO's 41st SEASON

The Evergreen Chamber Orchestra is thrilled to announce our 2022 - 2023 Season programming!

ECO is extremely pleased to announce the return of our Season Preview Concert at Cactus Jack’sGet a taste for the upcoming season in the fun (and somewhat unlikely!) setting of Cactus Jack’s Saloon and Grill – outdoors alongside the creek near Evergreen Lake. ECO will perform music from the 2022 – 2023 Season such as selections from Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony and Haydn’s 101st Symphony, as well as fun favorites like Richard Rodgers’ The Sound of MusicHenry Mancini’s Pink Panther Theme, and even Stars and Stripes Forever. This event ALWAYS sells out well in advance so get your tickets now!

Our MASTERWORKS CONCERT SERIES 2022-2023 Season Opener begins with a brand-new composition from our illustrious Music Director, William “Bill” Hill – his “Classical” Symphony No. 4. Bill’s newest symphony is composed in the classical style, with four movements.

ECO is extremely proud that Bill chooses to premiere his works with us. The orchestra notes that working with the composer himself – and the challenging nature of Bill’s compositions – makes the production of successful premiere performances all the more rewarding.

The program continues with Haydn’s Symphony No. 101known by its colloquial name “The Clock” for the ticking rhythm throughout the second movement. This work is part of a group of the twelve London Symphonies that Haydn composed during his two visits to London. The 101st Symphony was composed during his second visit, between 1793 – 1794, and this group contains some of his most well-known works.

ECO’s Masterworks Concert Series continues with our Fall Concert, which will feature Soprano Nadya Hill, Mezzo Rebecca Robinson, and Tenor Michael Hoffman in a program consisting entirely of operatic favorites from Puccini, Mozart, Léo Delibes, and Dvorak. Check back soon for more information and the full program list!

The second half of the season begins with ECO’s Spring Concert. The program begins with Claude Debussy’s Petite Suite – originally composed for piano four-hands, ECO will be performing the orchestral version. Next, we are thrilled to announce that celebrated concert pianist, Steinway Artist, and pedagogue Stephanie Cheng will be joining ECO to perform Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 7! This is a truly stellar work by Clara Schumann and we cannot wait to perform with Ms. Cheng. Our Spring Concert concludes with Georges Bizet’s monumental Symphony in C. What a program!

ECO’s 2022 – 2023 Masterworks Concert Series will conclude with a massive program of classical masterworks. The program begins with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus, Op 43. Next, ECO is very excited to announce that Colorado Symphony principal violist Basil Vendryes will join us to perform a double-helping of works featuring the viola! First, Herbert Howells’ Elegy, Op. 15 for Viola, String Quartet, and String Orchestra. Then, another brand-new composition by ECO Music Director William Hill – his Concerto for Viola, Strings, and Percussion.

Finally, ECO will close out the season with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68 – the “Pastorale” Symphony. This is the only Beethoven symphony in which Beethoven specifically included authentic programmatic details – and it has been a favorite of audiences worldwide since its premiere.

Our popular Chamber Recital Series returns, featuring memorable performances by ECO musicians and friends in small groups. Join us for these wonderfully intimate performances throughout the season at St. Laurence Episcopal Church in Conifer!

We will update the website with information about the performers and programs periodically as this information is confirmed – check back often!

ECO’s family-favorite Colorado Mountain Holiday Concert is back again! Join ECO for a fun holiday-themed concert featuring favorite sing-alongs like Jingle Bells, beautiful works like Silent Night and Carol of the Bells, and classical masterpieces such as Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.

This year, ECO will also be joined by the first-place winner of our 2022 – 2023 Young Artists Solo Competition! The winner will perform their selected piece with the orchestra.

ECO’s incredibly popular Young Artists Solo Competition is returning for its third edition – the first since COVID forced the cancellation of our season in 2020-2021. Highly talented young musicians will compete to earn a chance to perform with ECO at our Colorado Mountain Holiday Concert in December.
