ECO's Premiere Orchestral Series
Our MASTERWORKS CONCERT SERIES pulls out all the stops for the 2024-2025 Season, with exciting and diverse musical selections, jaw-dropping guest soloists, and all the magic you’ve come to expect from ECO’s performances!
This is a very special season for another auspicious reason – the 2024-2025 Season will be Music Director William Hill’s TENTH ANNIVERSARY SEASON. The Evergreen Chamber Orchestra is incredibly grateful for these past ten years, and look forward to many more under the baton of Mr. Hill!
The musical selections for the 2024-2025 Season feature classical masterworks by Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven. ECO will perform the final symphonies of each of these great composers – Mozart’s “Jupiter” Symphony No. 41, K. 551, Haydn’s “London” Symphony No. 104, H. 1/104, and for our Season Finale we will perform Beethoven’s majestic Symphony No. 9, Op. 125 alongside the amazing singers of the Evergreen Chorale.
Our 2024-2025 Season Masterworks Concert Series will also feature less well-known composers like Carl Stamitz and Heitor Villa-Lobos, as well as composers who are generally known for their large orchestral repertoire – usually outside the range of a volunteer community chamber orchestra – like Maurice Ravel and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
ECO is also proud to continue our long tradition of premiering new works. We will perform a new composition for Chorus and Chamber Orchestra by our Music Director William Hill for our Season Finale Concert.
ECO will be performing at two beautiful venues for all of our Masterworks Concert Series events this season:
Evergreen Performances – Saturdays – Rockland Community Church
Denver Performances – Sundays – First Universalist Church of Denver
The Evergreen Chamber Orchestra kicks off our 2024-2025 Masterworks Concert Series with a program that promises to delight and inspire.
Our Season Opener Concert begins with Mozart’s effervescent Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525. Translated as “A Little Night Music,” this beloved work is a sparkling gem filled with catchy melodies and playful rhythms.
Next, experience the virtuosity of ECO’s principal violist, Trent Guerrero as he takes center stage in Carl Stamitz’s Concerto for Viola in D Major, Op. 1. This masterpiece from a lesser-known composer showcases the viola in a dazzling spotlight, with its lyrical melodies and technical challenges.
Soloist Trent Guerrero has studied with Basil Vendryes and Matthew Michelic, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from Lawrence University in Wisconsin. We are thrilled that this will be his debut as a soloist with the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra!
The heart of the program is Franz Joseph Haydn’s monumental Symphony No. 104, often nicknamed the “London Symphony.” This masterpiece, and the final symphony that Haydn composed, is a grand and exhilarating work beginning with a slow and mysterious introduction which breaks the tension by moving to a quick folk-like theme, followed by unforgettable melodies in the Andante section and concluding with the lively Finale: Spiritoso. Haydn was a master of symphonic form, and this work is a shining example of his genius.

ECO’s Masterworks Concert Series continues with our Prelude to Spring Concert, which features orchestral works by composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Savor the mysticism of Brazil with Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Macumba (Evocation of the spirits) from his Suite No. 2 for Chamber Orchestra. Macumba is a generic term for various Afro-Brazilian religions comparable to “black magic” in English and Villa-Lobos masterfully translates the enigma of the supernatural into this captivating work.
Next, embark on a magical journey through Maurice Ravel’s enchanting Ma mère l’Oye (Mother Goose Suite), a whimsical masterpiece inspired by fairy tales.
Ravel originally wrote Ma mère l’Oye as a piano duet for the Godebski children, Mimi and Jean, ages 6 and 7, to whom he dedicated the work.
Ravel’s enchanting score brings to life beloved characters like Tom Thumb and Beauty and the Beast with delicate orchestral colors and playful melodies.
we are thrilled to welcome back the extraordinary Yumi Hwang-Williams, Concertmaster and Principal Violinist of the Colorado Symphony, as our soloist for our Prelude to Spring Concert!
ECO’s Prelude to Spring Concerts will conclude with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s beloved Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35 with Ms. Hwang-Williams as soloist.
This is the only violin concerto that Tchaikovsky composed, and it has rightfully earned its place in the hearts and minds of music lovers everywhere since its premiere in 1881.
Prepare to be dazzled by Yumi’s virtuosity throughout this iconic work, which demands both technical brilliance and profound musical expression.

Immerse yourself in the radiant world of Mozart!. ECO will present an all-Mozart program that celebrates the composer’s unparalleled genius for our Spring Concert.
Experience the fun, light-hearted spirit of Mozart with the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro. A whirlwind of melodic invention and rhythmic vitality, this overture sets the stage for one of opera’s most beloved comedies.
Then comes the luminous magic of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K. 467 – a masterpiece of lyrical elegance and technical brilliance. We are thrilled to welcome back Steinway Artist Stephanie Cheng as soloist for this delightful work.
Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, K. 467 in C Major was composed in 1785, just weeks after completing his dramatic Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, K. 466. The tonal contrast between these two works is astounding, revealing the great emotional range contained in Mozart’s oeuvre.
Prepare to be astonished by the sheer scale and ingenuity of Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 in C major, the “Jupiter Symphony.”
ECO is performing the great final symphonies of each of the classical masters for our 2024-2025 Season, and Mozart certainly does not disappoint!
A monumental achievement, this symphony showcases the composer at the peak of his powers, despite dealing with illness and a decline in income and support from patrons. From the dramatic opening to the celestial finale, Symphony No. 41 is a testament to Mozart’s boundless creativity and orchestral mastery.

ECO’s 2024-2025 Masterworks Concert Series will come to a close with a unique duo of works for orchestra and chorus. We are delighted to continue our collaborative friendship with the Evergreen Chorale as we perform one of the greatest masterpieces of the past alongside a new and innovative work.
We invite you to experience the world premiere of a new composition by ECO’s Music Director and Colorado Symphony’s Principal Timpanist William Hill. ECO is proud to continue our longstanding tradition of premiering new works by talented contemporary composers. Performing under the baton of the composer is a rewarding and fulfilling experience!
This groundbreaking work promises to expand the boundaries of choral music. By merging the intimacy of chamber ensemble with the power of the human voice, Hill creates a unique and immersive sonic experience.
Our season will close with the culmination of the Beethoven Symphonic Cycle that William Hill and the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra embarked upon almost a decade ago.
Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125 is one of the absolute greatest masterworks of classical music. It is Beethoven’s final complete symphony, and the first example of a major composer scoring vocal parts in a symphony.
This epic work, often hailed as the greatest orchestral composition ever written, is a testament to the human spirit. It is truly remarkable and almost impossible to imagine that this work was composed at a time when Beethoven was nearly completely deaf – the music is an incarnation of Beethoven’s will to create.
From its dramatic opening to the triumphant choral finale, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is truly a magnificent journey that must be experienced. We invite you to join us on this journey at our Season Finale Concerts!
