ECO's Board of Directors
Evergreen Chamber Orchestra’s Board of Directors is an all-volunteer group with diverse backgrounds and skills that comes together to ensure our wonderful orchestra is able to rehearse, perform, and grow year after year.
It’s not easy to keep an all-volunteer group running smoothly, but for all of our board members it is a challenge that they gladly accept. From planning out the season, running marketing campaigns, and managing financials – our board members do whatever it takes to ensure our musicians, sponsors, and audience members have an amazing experience with the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra.
Nancy Crego
President
Classical music has always been steadfast in Nancy Crego’s life and she strongly believes that it breathes a sense of hope, health, creativity and safety. Being Board President has given Nancy the opportunity to become familiar with Music Director Bill Hill and his 40 member volunteer chamber orchestra members representing the best music in the region which is humbling and also very honoring for her. Mount Vernon Country Club is her true community where she has lived most of her life with her husband George. Both Nancy and George owned local businesses that ingrained them into the culture of music and arts here and they are thrilled to have the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra as part of this community.
James D Spear, MBA
President Emeritus
James Spear joined the board in March of 2018 and was elected president in June of that year. He actually didn’t even know about ECO prior to December 2017! The Evergreen business he works for (SBBnet, inc) gives each of its employees money to donate for Colorado Gives Day. He searched “Evergreen, Music” on the CO Gives Day platform and that’s how he found out about ECO. After joining the board, James has helped ECO focus on the organization’s long- and short-term objectives and its strategy to achieve those objectives.
James is a dedicated pianist, with a particular love of the music of JS Bach and Chopin. He’s always looking for great people to talk about music with! He also plays drums, guitar, bass, and synthesizer – he has had a number of bands in the past that have performed throughout the Denver Metro Area, the most recent being The Whiskey Masons.
James received his bachelor’s degree in Music and Entertainment Industry Studies from the University of Colorado at Denver, dual-majoring in Music Business and Music Technology. He then received his International MBA from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business, focusing on marketing, strategy, and finance. He works as a Marketing Manager at SBBnet, inc in Evergreen.
Elsbeth Williams
Vice-President
Elsbeth is originally from Fort Collins, Colorado, and is a proud alumna of the University of Denver, where she earned degrees from the Lamont School of Music and the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. A professional clarinetist and educator, she founded the Williams Clarinet Studio in 2011 and has taught students throughout the Denver area for more than fifteen years. In addition to her musical career, Elsbeth works in dental sales, partnering with clients across Colorado and Arizona. Elsbeth has enjoyed playing Principal Clarinet with ECO since 2023 and she was happy to join its Board of Directors in 2025.
Trent Guerrero
Secretary
Trent Guerrero, a Colorado native born and raised in Parker, has been the Principal Violist of the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra since 2021. He studied viola with Basil Vendryes, the Principal Violist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, while attending Chaparral High School, before going on to attend Lawrence University in Appleton Wisconsin and studying with Professor Matthew Michelic from 2013-2018 to pursue a double degree in Viola Performance and Chemistry. Trent now works as a battery research scientist in the renewable energy sector and enjoys playing viola and supporting the local classical music community in his free time.
Monica Cucunato
Treasurer
Monica Cucunato joined Evergreen Chamber Orchestra’s Board of Directors in the summer of 2026 and is currently serving as Treasurer. Monica has earned bachelor’s degrees in Classical Studies from Loyola University Chicago and Accounting from Upper Iowa University. Currently residing in Arvada, Colorado, she is a Certified Public Accountant with 10 years of experience in corporate accounting. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Monica is not a musician herself but trained as a ballet dancer and has a passion for expanding access to the arts for both audiences and performers.

Sandra Friedman
Board Member
Sandra Friedman is a recently retired academic physician, board certified in pediatrics, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and developmental behavioral physician, having trained and studied at Northwestern, Stanford, and Harvard. She is not a performing musician although loves and appreciates the arts and music, and particularly values the talented ECO conductor, orchestra, and the other dedicated ECO board members.
Ernie Groman
Board Member
Ernie Groman served as Treasurers of the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra and the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, BS mathematics and UC-Berkeley, PhD biochemistry. He is a cofounder of Advanced Magnetics, Cambridge MA and BioPhysics Assay Laboratory, Worster, MA. He now lives in Denver, CO.
Mary Alyce Groman
Board Member
Mary Alyce Groman has played with the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra since 2021. She graduated from UNC- Greensboro, BM violin, Stanford, MA music history, PhD UC-Berkeley musicology. She played professionally in Boston, MA violin and viola for many years. She now lives in Denver, CO.
