ECO Musical Moments

No. 10 - 5/8/2020

Greetings all, and welcome to the TENTH edition of ECO Musical Moments. Tonight’s video features ECO Music Director William “Bill” Hill and his extraordinarily talented daughter Nadya Hill performing two short selections as encores at our most recent Chamber Recital Series event.

The first piece, “Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us“, was written by Sam Phillips and recorded by Allison Krause and Robert Plant for their 2007 album “Raising Sand”. Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the inspiration for this song, was an influential guitarist and singer of the ’30s and ’40s who turned the gospel genre on its head with her infusion of blues and jazz with traditional spiritual music.

The second piece, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow“, needs no introduction – nor does Nadya’s wonderful performance of this classic.

ECO will be hosting a virtual Happy Hour on Friday, May 15th at 6:00pm. Join ECO musicians, board members, and other music lovers via Zoom for a relaxed and informal Happy Hour. Learn more here!

ECO has raised about half of our $20,000 fundraising goal – please help us make it the rest of the way! Consider making a donation or setting up your own ECO fundraising page at http://bit.ly/ECODONATE2
